U.S. Senate panel postpones hearing on Veterans Affairs nominee

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee said on Tuesday it was postponing a planned hearing to consider President Donald Trump’s nominee to be veterans affairs secretary, Ronny Jackson, in light of “new information” it had received.

“We will continue looking into these serious allegations and have requested additional information from the White House to enable the committee to conduct a full review,” the committee’s leaders said in a statement.

The New York Times, citing unnamed officials, reported on Tuesday that the committee, which had planned to hold a nomination hearing on Wednesday, was examining allegations Jackson oversaw a hostile work environment as the White House physician and allowed the overprescribing of drugs.
